舞音KAGURA – 魂を燃やせ!!

煮え切らない思い抱えて
なんとなく過ごした日々
説明のつかない感情
難しい言葉など要らないと気付いたんだ

niekiranai omoi kakaete
nanto naku sugoshita hibi
setsumei no tsukanai kanjou
muzukashii kotoba nado iranai to kidzuita nda

I’ve somehow managed to let days pass
Holding up to my halfhearted thoughts
And I’ve realized I didn’t need any complex word
For all the feelings I can’t really explain

茜に染まった過去と今を癒す手段は
執念の炎と孤高の友

akane ni somatta kako to ima o iyasu shudan wa
shuunen no honoo to kokou no tomo

My past dyed in madder red and the way I’m healing it in my present
Are my implacable flames, my solitary allies

魂を燃やせ!! 尽きない命とともに
ヤツを道連れに最高の ShowTime
この世の終わりか不死の呪いどちらかが
勝利納める?この炎は消えない

tamashii o moyase!! tsukinai inochi to tomo ni
yatsu o michidzure ni saikou no ShowTime
kono yo no owari ka fushi no noroi dochira ka ga
shouri osameru? kono honoo wa kienai

Let your soul burn!! Together with your neverending life
Make them all follow you by force, it will be the best Show Time!
Whether this is the end of the world or a curse of eternal life
Can I achieve victory? These flames won’t vanish!

大嫌いだった月も人も
少しは許せたかな?
恨むことにも飽きたし
ただ彷徨うだけの抜け殻には興味がないの

daikirai datta tsuki mo hito mo
sukoshi wa yuruseta kana?
uramu koto ni mo akita shi
tada samayou dake no nukegara ni wa kyoumi ga nai no

I wonder if I could have forgiven just a bit
The Moon and all the people I’ve hated?
I’ve grown tired of bearing any grudge
Can a merely wandering empty vessel have any interest at all?

不自然に揺れる森の先へ突き立てた指
業火に抱かれる準備はいい?

fushizen ni yureru mori no saki e tsuki tateta yubi
gouka ni kakareru junbi wa ii?

A finger is pointing from the unnaturally swaying forest
Are you ready to be engulfed by the hell fire?

魂を燃やせ!! 生きてる証を探そう
私一人では見つけられない
永久の苦しみも刹那の安らぎとなれ
胸を焦がすこの炎は消えない

tamashii o moyase!! ikiteru akashi o sagasou
watashi hitori de wa mitsukerarenai
towa no kurushimi mo setsuna no yasuragi to nare
mune o kogasu kono honoo wa kienai

Let your soul burn!! Let’s find a proof of my “being alive”
‘Cause I can’t seem to find it just by myself
Become both the eternal suffering and the momentary serenity
For the flames burning in my chest won’t ever be extinguished

魂を燃やせ!! 尽きない命とともに
二人ならきっと分かり合える
聖なる裁きか気紛れな戯れかは
どうでもいいや!

tamashii o moyase!! tsukinai inochi to tomo ni
futari nara kitto wakari aeru
sei naru sabaki ka kimagure na tawamure ka wa
dou de mo ii ya!

Let your soul burn!! Together with your neverending life
I’m sure we’ll understand each other if we’ll be together
Whether it is an holy trial, or a caprice, or even a joke
I don’t really care at all!

魂を燃やせ!! 尽きない命とともに
たいくつ死の義理最高の ShowTime
この世の終わりか不死の呪いどちらかが
勝利納める?この炎は消えない

tamashii o moyase!! tsukinai inochi to tomo ni
yatsu o michidzure ni saikou no ShowTime
kono yo no owari ka fushi no noroi dochira ka ga
shouri osameru? kono honoo wa kienai

Let your soul burn!! Together with your neverending life
Make them all follow you by force, it will be the best Show Time!
Whether this is the end of the world or a curse of eternal life
Can I achieve victory? These flames won’t vanish!

Notes:

– I know I’ve translated “tamashii wo moyase” as “let your soul burn”, even though it should be “burn your soul up” or something like that (“let your soul burn” would have been “tamashi wo moyasasete” or something like that), but I like it much more this way: sounds better and it’s not far from its actual meaning.
– 死の義理 on the very last stanza is what I’m hearing in the song, not what I’ve found online, so it’s not 100% sure (I am, though).

美歌 – Continues Waiting

小さな海塞ぐ指の間耳に残る
幾つもの声から
逃げていたの答え告げられなくて
追いつかない身体

chiisana umi fusagu yubi no aida mimi ni nokoru
ikutsumo no koe kara
nigeteita no kotae tsugerarenakute
oitsukanai karada

A small sea suffocated in the space between my fingers is left in my ear
From a vast number of voices
My body won’t catch up
The unheard answer that escaped my grasp.

夜の風遮る手と手

yoru no kaze saegiru te to te

The night’s wind interrupts our joined hands…

夕波の上浮かべてた君の姿に
そっと目を向けて 手の平に乗せてみた

yuunami no ue ukabeteta kimi no sugata ni
sotto me o mukete te no hira ni nosetemita

On the rising night’s waves, I gently turn the palms
Of my hand towards your figure, as if I’m holding you

止むことのない雨の中傘もささずに
一つの言葉待ち続けているの

yamu koto no nai ame no naka kasa mo sasazu ni
hitotsu no kotoba machitsudzuketeiru no

Inside the unstoppable rain, without raising any umbrella,
I’m keep waiting for a single word…

心赴くままに生きていたら
出会えていない日々よ

kokoro omomuku mama ni ikiteitara
deaete inai hibi yo

As my heart is fixing, If you’ll be alive
There will be only days where we won’t meet

眠りのあと救うものがある

nemuri no ato sukuu mono ga aru

After my slumber, there will be things to save…

歩み寄って痛めた耳の裏側に
本当の声をいつだって探していた

ayumi yotte itameta mimi no uragawa ni
hontou no koe o itsudatte sagashiteita

In the middle of my sleep, on the back of my aching ear
I still keep searching for your real voice…

重なるように騒ぐ音星をまたいで
分かり合えない時代(とき)を彷徨うだけ

kasanaru you ni sawagu oto hoshi o mataide
wakariaenai toki o samayou dake

Noisy sounds stand on stars as if they’re piling up;
I’m just wandering in times where we won’t understand each other…

夕波の上浮かべてた君の姿に
そっと目を向けて手の平に乗せてみた

yuunami no ue ukabeteta kimi no sugata ni
sotto me o mukete te no hira ni nosetemita

On the rising night’s waves, I gently turn the palms
Of my hand towards your figure, as if I’m holding you

止むことのない雨の中傘もささぐに
一つの言葉待ち続けているの

yamu koto no nai ame no naka kasa mo sasagu ni
hitotsu no kotoba machitsudzuketeiru no

Inside the unstoppable rain, without raising any umbrella,
I’m keep waiting for a single word…

待ち続けているの…

machitsudzuketeiru no…

I’ll keep waiting for it…

Notes:

– 塞ぐ (fusagu, first stanza) is a verb meaning “obstruct, block, shut”, but it also sounds like 鬱ぐ(fusagu) which means “suffocation” or “depression”. I used its second meaning, finding it more fitting. Probably the song wanted it to be read as that, because there are more ways to say “block” or “shut” with easier and more common verbs.
– In the first stanza, is implied that it’s talking about “the sound of the sea”, not only “sea”.
– The first stanza was hella hard to translate. Or better, was hard to put together. I changed lots of words into other more approriate ones. But the meaning didn’t change. Just wanted to point that out.
– 歩み寄って (ayumi yotte) means “to meet halfway” or “to step up”, but giving that the singer is one with Miko, I decided to transform the verb into something similar without changing its meaning. “Middle of the sleep” fits more, imho, being talking about Miko that’s sleeping and keeps hearing things in the middle of her slumber.
– 時代 (jidai) on one of the last stanzas is not read as Jidai (meaning Era), but as Toki (meaning Time). I translated it as Time, but keep in mind that it’s written as Jidai because the Era from when Miko lived and awakes from her sleep changes.

CLOCKWORK TRACER – Drowning Emotion Has A Short-lived Dream -Rebloom-

Nitori

I felt the urge to post this song for several reason. The first being that CLOCKWORK TRACER is a really good circle that deserves more attention than it has. The second being that their album Shangri-La in Bloom is reaally good and almost unknown in the touhou doujin music world. And that’s a shame because it’s really nice.
I struggled finding it online and it was impossible to me to find lyrics of it on the web.
I sent an e-mail to Yapan, leader of this circle, telling him that I wanted to read Shangri-la in Bloom’s booklet so badly and I couldn’t afford buying the CD because I’m way too far away from Japan (I live in Italy).
And he was incredibly nice. He sent me the whole album lyrics in .txt files, and also told me they’re working on a way to spread their CD sale-points to other overseas countries. I could have cried for joy.
A doujin circle sending you an album full lyrics’ sheet for free it’s not something you see everyday.
I plan on translating every song from this album, but two of them have priority, being the two I like the most. One of those two is Drowning Emotion Has A Short-lived Dream -Rebloom-, today’s post.
I think it’s probably the greatest arrange for Candid Friend that I’ve ever listened, and I love when around the end of the song (when the lyrics go “izanawareru honogurai minasoko“), the guitar on the background is playing a tune very similar to the Theme of Eastern Story… chills, just chills.
Remember: things written (like this) are the screaming parts. Everything else is clean vocals.
Also, there were several pics waaaaaaaay more fitting than the one I used (some involving Nitori sinking down), but look at this. Look at it. It’s so beautiful I couldn’t help but placing it in my post. I’m sorry.
Without further ado, I hope you’ll like it: enjoy!

CLOCKWORK TRACER – Drowning Emotion Has A Short-lived Dream -Rebloom-

夢を隠す白に 隔絶の水の音
透き通る流れに 身を任せ揺蕩う

yume o kakusu shiro ni kakuzetsu no mizu no ne
sukitooru nagare ni mi o makase tayutau

I surrender myself to an isolated sound of water,
Swaying in the white where dreams are concealed

巡るこの世界 ワタシハヒトリ
伸ばした手 隙間埋めるには広すぎて

meguru kono sekai watashi wa hitori
nobashita te sukima umeru ni wa hirosugite

I’m alone in this revolving world,
The ground crack in which I outstretch my hand is too wide

幻想 (fade out) 刹那の願い (momentary wishes)
指先触れるその瞬間に (falling love)
ゆらめく邂逅と つかの間の淡い色
心は惹かれてく

gensou (fade out) setsuna no negai (momentary wishes)
yubisaki fureru sono toki ni
yurameku kaigou to tsukanoma no awai iro
kokoro wa hikareteku

An illusion, (fade out) an extemporary wish
Just when my fingertips started to shiver
My heart begins growing attracted
To that flickering chance of meeting, that brief time of pale colors

穢れ知らぬ青に 溶けるは甘い毒
手招く安らぎに 体は蝕まれ

kegare shiranu ao ni tokeru wa amai doku
temaneku yasuragi ni karada wa mushibamare

A sweet poison melting into a dirtless pure blue;
Is consuming my body lured by its beckoning calmness

揺らぐこの世界 アナタトフタリ
繋いだ手 離し生きるには狭すぎて

yuragu kono sekai anata to futari
tsunaida te hanashi ikiru ni wa semasugite

Me and you, together, in this trembling world
Living in it releasing the hand I held makes it so narrow…

幻想 (fade out) 刹那の願い (momentary wishes)
指先触れるその瞬間に (falling love)
ゆらめく邂逅と つかの間の淡い色
心は惹かれてく

gensou (fade out) setsuna no negai (momentary wishes)
yubisaki fureru sono toki ni

An illusion, (fade out) an extemporary wish
Just when my fingertips started to shiver
My heart begins growing attracted
To that flickering chance of meeting, that brief time of pale colors

溺れた感情 息もできずに
響くは悪魔の囁き
蕩けて消えるなら せめて最期に見せて
うたかたの夢を

oboreta kanjou iki mo dekizu ni
hibiku wa akuma no sasayaki
torokete kierunara semete saigo ni misete
utakata no yume o

A drowning emotion, without even being able to breath
As the whisper of demons resounds around
If an ephemeral dream, melting, would disappear
At least let me see it for one last time…

誘われる 仄暗い水底
墜ちてゆけば二度と 光の下へとは戻れない
(But still I’m longing for…)

izanawareru honogurai minasoko
ochite yukeba nido to hikari no moto e to wa modorenai
(But still I’m longing for…)

I’m being lured down into the obscure river bottom
I know that if I’d fall I won’t be able to return once more under the light
(But still I’m longing for…)

幻想 (fade out) 刹那の願い (momentary wishes)
指先触れるその瞬間に (falling love)
ゆらめく邂逅と つかの間の淡い色
心は惹かれてく

[Touhou] ジングルベル – Jingle Bells

Translator’s Notes

After almost a year without any new touhou subbed clips, here I am once again with a clip from the same author as the one I already subbed. I really like Komachi (though, I don’t particularly like when she’s portrayed with those ridiculously large breasts…) and I wanted to sub/upload this video for so long… But being a Christmas-themed clip, I never actually had the “courage” to upload it on youtube. Now it’s the perfect time to upload it, and so, here it is!
I was wondering why Komachi’s best buddies are people from SA, but I kinda like the atmosphere portrayed in this heart-warming clip. Tsundere Shikieiki is, as always, the best.
Before the notes, merry christmas to everyone reading this (if there’s even someone who is really reading all this pointless stuff!), and if it’s not christmas… Well, have a nice day!
Notes on some sentences/parts:
0:19 – There’s actually nothing to point out, except for the fact that I didn’t understand what she was saying and I was about to going crazy, until I finally realized that that “ja-” sound I kept hearing was a ジャスト (jasuto), a “just” as it is pronounced in japanese. Screw you, katakana!
0:39 – I’ve been deceived by an english word, once again. I kept hearing “you and I”, but it actually says ” ピュアな”, “pyua na”, having “pyua” meaning “pure” (another english word pronounced in japanese). In other words, the sentence “You and I, having a dream” is not correct. It should be “Having a pure dream”.
0:43 – “Sì!!” Well, I don’t think there’s a meaning behind this. She surely says something like セィー (sii), and it could both mean “See” in english or “Sì” (yes) in italian… Or it could simply be a scream out of joy! I left “Sì”, just because I’m italian. Rotfl.
0:44 – I forgot to note what’s written on Ran’s book. On Ran’s book: “The way of baking cookies – If you try, you can!”
1:01 – In case you don’t know, “paruparuparu” is the onomatopeia the fans gave to Parsee’s acts of jealousy.

[Touhou] 小野塚小町の暴走 – Onozuka Komachi’s runaway

Translator’s Notes

Well, I really like those KomachixShiki stuff, and expecially those kind, made by the same author. For how much I know, there’s another one about Komachi and Shikieiki, which is a parody of jingle bells. Of course one day I’ll sub that one too. I’m starting to like subbing videos, and it’s good to see that people likes my work too. Also, forgive me for using such a small font and such unclear colours. Next time I’ll do something more cleare, like the other video.
Talking about the video, it is way faster than Komachi’s Duty, so subbing it was very difficult, and also trying to understand what Komachi says was not the easiest thing. There could be mistakes, and if you spot some, feel free to leave a comment below. I have no doubt (more or less) about the internal writings that I’ve translated, since they were almost always readable (I still don’t know how I was able to read “Shiki-sama” wrote in that fancy style).
However, here are some notes about some translated sentences and curiosities:
0:21 “[…] Will face their end!” actually this is translated in an unproper way, due the fact that the correct japanese sentence contains the world “pichuun”, which in fanon is the sound produced by colliding to a danmaku in any touhou game. The correct sentence in english would be something like “Will go pichuun!”, in other words “will die”, in other terms, as I wrote.
0:24 I didn’t translate the notes on the background, because they are the wrote-down version of what Komachi is saying as she sings.
0:42 “Tyrol” is a region in Austria, near the North Italy, which is famous due their production of chocolate (which is very good, guaranteed by an italian!)
1:15 “Tsundere… Or kuudere? Or Sadist?” Various stereotypes in anime-characters. If you’re watching this particular touhou video, I’m pretty sure you already know what those terms mean, but I’ll explain it anyway! A tsundere is basically a girl which tends to act violent and grumpy toward a certain person, but actually has a sweet heart, and act in this way because she’s in love with that person. A kuudere is another stereotype, a girl who acts cold and emotionless toward a person, but actually is in love with him/her. A sadist… well, that’s common knowledge, isn’t it?

[Touhou] 小町機能 – Komachi’s Duty

Translator’s Notes

Komachi is my favourite Touhou character by far, and when I discovered this video I always wondered why there wasn’t any translate of it (at least I never found any of it).
And so, considering that I’m studying japanese I decided to give it a try, and I’m quite satisfied about the results. It was indeed a funny song, after all.
And God only knows how hard it was to sub this, because of my retarded computer.
Just a few notes about some sentences:
0:10 “In a pure white way!”, it actually means “in a sincere way”, but its literal meaning is (more or less) what I wrote. I found it funny and unusual, so I kept it like this.
0:24 “Eh! Shiki-sama, you came here by night to rape me?”, actually it says “Eh, Shiki-sama Yobai?!”, in which yobai means an ancient practice in Japan, in which a man sneaks by night in the house of her lover to… Well, just google it and read it!
1:03 Literally, “Atai wa I love you” means “I am I love you”, or to be less specific, “I I love you”, because Atai means “me” in japanese, and wa is the particle which defines the subject. It’s a repetition. The same way, “Boss wa take kill me” is similar, except due the fact that it doesn’t have a sense to begin with. ENGRISH LOGIC! And so… I translated it as “I am like I LOVE YOU” because I find it funny, and similar to what I thought Komachi would say.
1:20 “Please, don’t judge me!”, Actually the literally translation of this would be something like “Don’t give me any black nor white!” Which is a typical way to refer to a judgement in japanese, especially the Yama one.
