Empire Ensemble – Supersonic Cinderella

zekamashi

You thought Kancolle disappeared from this wordpress, didn’t you?
Well, it didn’t. And I guarantee you there are going to be more kancolle posts now and then.
I’ve already translated songs from this album, and I think I’ll keep doing so because it was my very first kancolle album and I’m kinda attached to it.
Even though I think it’s impossible to place Touhou project and Kancolle on the same ground (in every term, expecially music), I still think that Kancolle deserves some space in this wordpress.
But let’s skip that and go straight to the song.
Of course this song revolves around Shimakaze, so you can guess the meaning of the lyrics.
Its style is very fast-paced and seems to be something you’ll most likely find inside a Dance Dance Revolution machine.
Eurobeat, wasn’t it?
Anyway. For the best experience out of this song, I suggest you to listen to it while looking at this animated gif.
There aren’t really lots of things to say about it, it’s a pretty nice song with a crazy fast rhythm that couldn’t have been better suited for Shimakaze.
Then it slows down… but who cares? It’s fine.
>Congratulations.

Notes:

– This song is based off Shimakaze, so speed and stuff. Correct me if I’m wrong, I remember her sleeping somewhere on the roof in the anime. Or was it Strike Witches? Anyway, that’s probably what the second stanza stands for.
– 道 is always a problem when it comes to translation. It could mean “way”/”Street” even in a philosophical way, so it’s easy translated as “Journey”. I prefered using this translation, but keep on mind that it could mean a lot of things.

[REQUEST] C-CLAYS – 風ニ舞シ恋桜歌

dw

【Requested by Dolce

And I can remember who gave me the lyrics for it, so thanks, guyIdontremember!
Kancolle. I do enjoy its art, some of its BGMs and the characters’ design, but that apart, it doesn’t make sense to me.
I don’t really like it that much, and whoever says that kancolle is the next touhou is clearly blind or whatever.
That apart, Kancolle arranges are pretty damn good.
There are a lot of arranges that I like and I wish to translate, so I’m not giving up translating Kancolle stuff.
I just wanted to point out that, music aside, I don’t like it that much as I like touhou.
I never accepted that all of those cute anime girls were actually ships, and while on Touhou there are things such as humanized musical instrument / umbrellas / stuff, it doesn’t look strange not even a bit to me, compared to how kancolle does.
Anyway, some words about this post.
I already translated 番ヒノ翼 from the same album, and just like this one, the lyrics aren’t easy at all.
Katakana everywhere, special readings and strange kanjis make everything a lot more difficult than it already is.
But then again, I DO like challenges.
Also, this is an arrange from that theme… can’t remember the name. The one featured in the spring event some years ago, maybe? I like that theme a lot!
PS: In this song… The bass is AMAZING. Just wait for the fourth stanza and bshqeyrbsznjdjs.
PPS: This may be my worst (aka most difficult / wtf) translation EVER.
Be sure to check the notes.

What dawn, darkness, dreams and reality see
Going beyond the silver time, is a faded beauty;
What the shadow of the chance of meeting you is sprinkling
Is the rain of an ephemeral sad flower.

A Kagura song burns my overflowing life with love
Like a pattern from a love melody I used to hear;
What’s left in this transient fate of my heart falling like a flower is just this song,
Bloom fully, oh fragrant spring wind!

The scattering lamps are lightened up by the raging fire of love
And the Miotsukushi are fighting for your sake;
I pray to the azure sky for those wings I dreamed of,
As I follow the path that white clouds are showing me

The iron, the violence, The cry of crickets…
A sad, golden wind is rising…

I’ll let those feelings for you ride the wind carrying love, a loving sakura blooming in profusion even when is cold…
This heart, falling like a flower, aah… the colour of a transient maiden is a song;
Bloom fully, grow splendid, oh fragrant spring wind, oh song of a loving sakura!

Notes:

– 恋登り (koinobori) is a strange word. It implies the word “koi” (love) and “nobori” (to ride, to go up, to rise), but on the other hand, it sounds exactly like 鯉幟 (koinobori), the name of those carp-shaped wind chimes which are made float during the kodomo-no-hi (children’s day). I kept the other meaning, but it may have some implications with this tradition. I guess.
– 恋桜 (koizakura) this word appears both in the title and often in the song. I don’t really know how should I translate it, being “koi” “love” and “zakura” a compound form of “sakura”, the japanese cherry tree. I decided to make it into “loving sakura” or “lovely sakura”. “loving” was a bit more fitting, so I left this one in the translation.
– “silver time” in the translation is a literal translation of 銀の時. I can’t think of anything else. It could may be refering to the war, which makes a lot of sense giving the context.
– 刹那 (setsuna) means “moment”, but also “sadness”. Here, it’s written with the kanjis for “moment”, but I think it fits better to add both, being the stanza about chance of meeting and hope (which are both sad imho).
– Katakana appears randomly in some sentences. On the booklet, the furigana was entirely in katakana. The reason for this is unknown.
– 神楽歌 (kagura uta) the Kagura is a shinto / traditional type of song in japanese culture. I left it untouched.
– 生命 (inochi) in the third stanza is read as “inochi”, which is the normal reading ONLY for 命, the second kanji, while it should be read “seimei”. The meaning of “life”, however, stays the same.
– 旋律 (senritsu) in the third stanza, same thing. Should be read “senritsu” but is read as “merodi” (katakana version of the word “melody”). Both words mean the same thing, once again.
– こゝろ (kokoro) in the third stanza, is written using ゝ, an old fashioned symbol which is read as the previous kana. Nowadays, japanese people don’t use it.
– 澪標 (miotsukushi) I can’t explain in english what are those. Just… look here on Google images. Too many goodamn naval-themed words I can’t translate / comprehend. I’m sorry.
– 運命 (unmei) third stanza too. Somebody, please, tell me why this fucking compound is ALWAYS read as “sadame” (not the original reading) but NEVER as “unmei” (original reading). I can’t understand this. Help me. In this song is read as “sadame” too, and I swear it appears as “sadame” in at least other 5 posts I already made. Just why..?
– 宿命 (shukumei) fifth stanza (or sixth?), ditto. Should be read “shukumei”, but japanese guys likes that fucking “sadame” word more than they love fucking sushi. I’m sorry that was racist. I love you, japanese people.

[REQUEST] 金剛・比叡・榛名・霧島 【東山奈央】- 提督との絆

haruna

【Requested by Daniel Blueflyer‏

Back to Kancolle with a song published by Kadokawa Games, “提督との絆“.
While with Touhou there’s no way I can say uncorrect things, this could happen when I’m talking about Kancolle because I don’t know eveyrthing about it.
So, feel free to insult correct me!
Anyway, this seems to be an arrange from the theme of marriage in Kancolle.
Yup, in the game you can actually marry your favourite ship.
How should we call this? Mechaphilia? I don’t know. What I know is that this song is so sweet it melted my insides and gave me diabetes three times.
And that’s not a bad thing, I like these kind of lyrics and this one is very good. What I like about Kancolle arranges is that they’re always very emotional (in terms of lyrics) compared to your average Touhou arrange.
Must probably be because Kancolle is overall sadder when compared to Touhou, that explains why its arranges are almost tearjerking.
And, I repeat, it’s not like that’s a bad thing. I liked this song a lot.
But that’s not all. The vocals are by Nao Touyama, which is the voice actress for every Kongou class ship in the game. So, as stated in the title, the characters performing this song are Kongou (金剛), Haruna (榛名), Hiei (比叡) and Kirishima (霧島).
There’s nothing much I can add to this, I’ll just leave the notes and the lyrics. Enjoy!
(PS: I choose a picture of Haruna merely because it was the best I could find)
(…And yup, that’s a traditional japanese wedding dress)

Nao Touyama – 提督との絆

海の底に眠る
深い哀しみと時の記憶から
目覚めた朝の光の中
提督の夢を見る

umi no soko ni nemuru
fukai kanashimi to toki no kioku kara
mezameta asa no hikari no naka

From the profound sadness and our memories
Sleeping at the bottom of the sea,
Inside the light of a morning that wakes me up
I dream about you, Admiral.

凪いだ明日の海に
漕ぎ出す私の背中見つめている
提督がくれた未来の航路

In the calm sea of tomorrow,
I’ll check with care the precious
Map of our future that you, Admiral gave to me,
As you watch my back.

闇を切り裂く戦いも
独りになったさみしささえ
越えてゆけるから

tetsu no shizumu kaikyou mo
yami mo kirisaku tatakai mo

I’ll overcome everything…
Even the iron sinking in the strait,
Even the darkness, even the violent battles,
Even the sadness of having become alone…

青い時の風と
提督の優しい微笑み
いつでも心に抱いて
希望へ駆けていくの

aoi toki no kaze to
anata no yasashii hohoemi

I’ll always keep in my heart
The wind of the blue times
And the gentle smile of yours, Admiral,
And dash towards tomorrow!

Looking your eyes, my Admiral,
I live up to this time;
Even the gunpowder smoke and this pain…
That’s right,
That’s the bond between us.

空の果ての彼方
遠い海の漣聞こえている
提督がくれた私の日々
大事に思い出す

sora no hate no kanata
tooi umi no sazanami kikoeteiru
anata ga kureta watashi no hibi

Beyond the end of the sky
I can hear the rippling sound of the distant sea
As I preciously remember
The days you gave to me, Admiral…

取り残される切なさも
終わりを看取る哀しみさえ
紡いでゆけるから

yami ni shizumu tsumetasa mo
torinokosareru setsunasa mo

I’ll embrace everything…
Even the coldness of sinking into the darkness,
Even the pain of being left behind,
Even the sadness of realizing the end…

紅い時の炎
提督となら恐くはない
想いを心に響かせて
未来へ駆けていくの

akai toki no honoo
anata to nara kowaku wa nai
omoi o kokoro ni hibikasete

If you’re here with me, Admiral,
I do not fear the flame of the red times;
I’ll let my memories resound in my heart
And dash towards the future!

私が護り抜くよ
提督を独りにはしない
硝煙もこの痛みさえ
私のドレス

watashi ga mamori nuku yo
anata o hitori ni wa shinai
shouen mo kono itami sae
watashi no doresu

I’ll protect you to the end,
I won’t leave you alone, my Admiral;
Even the gunpowder smoke and this pain…
They’re my dress.

青い時の風と
提督の優しい微笑み
いつでも心に抱いて
希望へ駆けていくの

aoi toki no kaze to
anata no yasashii hohoemi
itsudemo kokoro ni daite
ashita e kakete yuku no

I’ll always keep in my heart
The wind of the blue times
And the gentle smile of yours, Admiral,
And dash towards tomorrow!

提督の眼差しに
きっとこの時代で応える
信じてる
ねえ いつまでも

anata no manazashi ni
kitto kono toki de kotaeru

nee itsumademo

Looking your eyes, my Admiral,
I’ll surely live up to this time;
I believe in it,
Right? Keep holding my hand…

手を握っていて

te o nigitteite

…forever.

Notes:

– That’s one of the few song I translated without leaving the sentence order the same way as the japanese lyrics are for most of the stanzas. This was in order to have the lyrics be more “normal sounding”.
– In the lyrics, everytime the word 提督 (teitoku), meaning “admiral”, appears, it’s ALWAYS read as “anata”, which could both mean “you” and “my dear”. Even the title of this song has a “Teitoku” that’s actually read as “Anata”. I translated it as “You, Admiral”, so it has every meaning it should have.
– 航路 is read as “chizu” in this song, meaning “map”, while it’s normally read as “kouro”, meaning “route” (as the route a warship is ordered to follow).
– 希望 is read as “ashita”, meaning “tomorrow”, while it’s normally read as “kibou”, meaning “hope”. I combined the two meanings.
– 時代 is read as “toki”, meaning “time”, while it’s normally read as “jidai”, meaning “era”. Omg I just made three identical notes in a row.
– Just like note #2, on another stanza the word 未来 which is read as “mirai” meaning “future”, is read as “ashita”, meaning “tomorrow”. Japanese is fun.
– When the song says “aoi toki” and “akai toki” (blue times – red times) I think it’s probably refering to “good memories” and “violent memories”. In other words, the days of calmness (blue) and the days of battles and blood (red). We’re talking about warship, after all.
– When it says “dress”, it’s probably also refering to the marriage stuff. That’s an arrange from that theme, after all.
– Last two stanzas come one after one other in meanings, so the translation for “forever” is actually in the second-to-last stanza instead of the last. As I stated on a previous note, I had to change the order of some words, but I assure you I didn’t left behind anything.

[REQUEST] Zero Sound – Lost

sunk

【Requested by Andersen Lim

Looks like I’m getting tons of Kancolle requests. And that’s nice too, even though I’m mainly a terminal touhoulic.
Today’s song is Lost, from the same album of Blue Rise!, a previous kancolle-request post.
This is actually an arrange from one of my favourite Kancolle’s themes, and I really like it.
I should thank Violet and her friedworld for having it already romanized, or else it could have take me lots of time (I never stopped fighting against katakana)!

What was truthful in my life?
For whose sake am I rusting away?
Please… Tell me…

Notes:

– 大破れてく (kowareteku) is wrote in a different way, where the kanji of big (大) is used. It implies that the ship took a massive damage.
– 艦艇 (kantei) which means “war ship” is read as “karada”, meaning “body”, in the same sentence of the previous note. This is also repeated onwards.
– 謂ふ (iu) is the exactly same thing as the modern 言う, the main difference is that it uses a different kanji and archaic kana (fu), which was read as “u” back on the classic japanese days. Kancolle arranges = classical japanese / difficult language, for some reason.
– 轟沈 (gouchin) same thing as before. It says “kowareteku”, but it’s written as “gouchin”, meaning “instantly sunk”. I originally wanted to add a picture of Taihou because of this, but couldn’t find one I liked, so… you know, I really like Hibiki.
– I also used a lot of “rotting away” instead of “rusting away”. The way they’re wrote should be more “rot” than “rust”, but keep in mind that you could read any “rot” as “rust”. It’s a metaphor! (<-*trying to justify his mistakes*)
– 消失する (rosutosuru) is actually read as "shoushitsusuru", meaning "to disappear". Maybe the rosuto is the world "lost" in english..? However, I choose to keep its original kanjis meaning.
– 価値 is read as "omosa" (weight) instead of "kachi" (value). I kept "weight". Also, I'd like to explain this sentence. In the point of sinking (aka dying), the ship is thinking about her status as a warship, thus "parting away from what's right/justice", being a machine born for the sole sake of killing.
– 未練 (miren) which means "regret" is read as 鎖 (kusari), meaning "chains". I combined their meanings in my translation.
– The song's lyrics slowly fades into katakana because they symbolize how the sunken ship is becoming an abyssal, the enemy specie which speaks in katakana in Kancolle.

[REQUEST] C-CLAYS – 番ヒノ翼

tubasa

【Requested by Dolce

Another Kantai Collection song, this time by C-Clays, a circle that I get to know thanks to Touhou arranges.
I like the japanese-style and the overall rhythm of this song, it’s really nice.
But on the other hand, this song was hard as hell. Even trying to understand single words made me do several researches!
Well, it’s not like I hate getting to know more about japanese!
But I must say, if there weren’t lyrics for this song, I couldn’t have figure out a single word out of it.
Not only that. This song is overly complex. It took me hours to figure out some sentences meaning! That’s because it has a lot of military-only words and other words that are not so easy to find on a common japanese text.
It’s probably the hardest song I’ve translated, and the first one in which I’m not completely sure how it turned out to be…
But again, it’s due complex words and archaic idioms unused nowadays.
As I also state on the notes, this song seems to be talking about two characters from Kancolle: Kaga & Akagi. Read the notes for more info about the song / lyrics!
NOTES:

C-CLAYS – 番ヒノ翼

あゝ 非情の謀よ
日の丸国旗が血色
あゝ 烏合の衆 さめざめ
戦乱の檻に囚われの身

aa hijou no hakarigoto yo
hi no maru kokki ga kesshoku
aa ugou no shuu samezame
senran no ori ni toraware no mi

Aah, such a ruthless strategy;
Our complexion is our national round Sun flag;
Aah, such a sorrowful disorder;
My body is imprisoned in a cage of war…

乱気流に渦巻いた 浮世絵は
悲劇に向かい行進 救われぬ

rankiryuu ni uzumaita ukiyoe wa
higeki ni mukai koushin sukuwarenu

An ukiyo-e whirpooling in turbolences
Can’t be saved from its tragedy by marching the opposite side…

藍い炎は 番ヒノ翼
貴方とは連れ添って
相合傘で 手を繋ぎましょう
生き延びてみせましょう

aoi honoo wa tsugai no tsubasa
anata to wa tsureotte
aiaigasa de te o tsunagimashou
ikinobite misemashou

This blue flame is my pair of wings;
Taking you along with me
Let’s hold our hands under tha same umbrella
And show the world we’ll survive!

嘆き哀しみ 空へ謳えば
喝采が鳴り響く
同じ時代を 生き抜いた「赤城」
貴方がいるならば

nageki kanashimi sora e utaeba
kassai ga narihibiku
onaji jidai o ikinuita hito
anata ga iru naraba

If you sing your grief towards the sky,
An ovation will resound;
If you’re here with me
I’ll be in an era where that person survives…

あゝ 輝き増す一航戦
なおさら鎧袖一触
あゝ 雨降り空は 散々
負けは終焉の杯

aa kagayaki masu ikkosen
naosara gaishuuisshoku
aa amefuri sora wa sanzan
make wa shuuen no sakazuki

Aah, the first mobile fleet shines more and more,
Still more single blow sinkings;
Aah, the rainy sky is so harsh,
The defeat will be a toast for our demise…

不確定要素 甲 烙印を
押さないでまだきっと飛べるから

fukantei youso kou rakuin o
osanaide mada kitto toberu kara

Do not apply the “uncertain” mark on our “1st class”
Because we’ll surely fly again…

赤き群青 番ヒノ翼
貴方とは 寄り添って
大事な鼻緒 千切れぬように
希望を飛ばしたいの

akaki gunjou tsugai no tsubasa
anata to wa yorisotte
daijina hanao chigirenu you ni
kibou o tobashitai no

A reddish ultramarine blue is my pair of wings,
Being close with you,
I want to set free my hope
As that precious sandal strap won’t be cut to pieces…

悼み苦しみ 海へ謳えば
皆が泣いていたわ
同じ時代を 生き抜いた「赤城」
貴方だけはどうか

itami kurushimi umi e utaeba
minna ga naiteita wa
onaji jidai o ikinuita hito
anata dake wa douka

If you’d sing your suffering and hurt to the sea,
Everyone will be crying;
In the same era where that person survives…
Please, at least you…

乱気流に渦巻いた 浮世絵は
右倣えの突進で 砂塵へと

rankiryuu ni uzumaita ukiyoe
miginarae no tosshin de sajin e to

An ukiyo-e whirpooling in turbolences
Rushes towards a cloud of sand, while facing west.

聞こえるかしら 私の声が
暁よ永遠に
そこに貴方が 居続けるなら
生き延びてみせましょう

kikoeru kashira watashi no koe ga
akatsuki yo eien ni
soko ni anata ga itsudzukeru nara
ikinobite misemashou

I wonder if you could hear my voice
Eternally inside this dawn?
If you keep being in it,
We’ll show the world we’ll survive!

嘆き哀しみ 空へ謳えば
喝采が鳴り響く
未来の為に 貴方の為に
決して振り向かないの

nageki kanashimi sora e utaeba
kassai ga torihibiku
ashita no tame ni anata no tame ni
kesshite furimukanai no

If you sing your grief towards the sky,
An ovation will resound;
For the sake of tomorrow, for your sake,
I won’t ever turn back.

悼み苦しみ 海へ謳えば
皆が泣いていたわ
同じ時代を 生き抜いた「赤城」
我ら 番ヒノ翼

itami kurushimi umi e utaeba
minna ga naiteita wa
onaji jidai o ikinuita hito
warera tsugai no tsubasa

If you’d sing your suffering and hurt to the sea,
Everyone will be crying;
In the same era where that person survives…
…We are our pair of wings!

Notes:

-ゝ appears really often in this song. It’s a symbol that works just like 々. While the second one repeats the sound of the kanji before it, ゝ repeats the sound of the kana before it. So あゝ is the exact same thing as ああ (aa, in kanji 嗚呼).
– 日の丸 (hinomaru or hi no maru) is the name of japanese’s flag. Literaly “The circle of Sun”. Also, can’t find the link between the first two lines.
– 浮世絵 (ukiyoe) I could leave it as “painting”, but let me explain. Ukiyo-e are a series of japanese traditional painting, whose name mean “floating world painting”. Ever seen the Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai? That’s an ukiyo-e. I left the term “ukiyo-e” to leave untouched that overall japanese-feeling the song carries with it.
– 赤城 is read as “hito”, meaning “person” in this song. While the kanji (“red” and “castle”) together are read as “Akagi”, one of Kancolle’s character & of course a real existed japanese aircraft carrier. Sticking to Kancolle’s world, implying that “akagi” is read as “person” (and giving the context of the sentence), it’s pretty easy to state that the song is from Kaga’s point of view. That explains the picture I choose for this post. I left it as “person”, anyway.
– 番ヒノ翼 (tsugahi no tsubasa) This too, is written as “tsugaHI”, but it’s read as “tsugai”. That’s because in ancient japanese it worked like that.
– 赤き群青 (akaki gunjou) “a reddish ultramarine blue”. The sentence clearly states “a red ultramarine”, which is something impossible. However, this is most likely refering to Akagi’s red outfit (also, “aka” from “Akagi” means red) and Kaga’s deep blue outfit.
– 鼻緒 (hanao) means “geta strap” (a geta is a japanese traditional sandal). There’s no doubt, it has no other meanings. Probably it’s a reference to some Akagi-Kaga related stuff I don’t know about (I’m not a Kancolle expert like Touhou). Or probably some historical events. There’s no doubt, anyway, that “hanao” means “sandal strap”. [edit, courtesy of A Distant Red] “(…) breaking of a sandal strap is considered a sign of misfortune, so it can be seen as “so that no misfortune will befall you.” It is quite a roundabout way to say so, but is quite poetic.”
– 貴方だけはどうか (anata dake wa douka) the sentence stops here. I think it would continue as “please, at least you SURVIVE”, but being implied in japanese, it’s not written.
– 未来 (mirai) meaning “future” is, instead, read as “ashita”, meaning tomorrow. Reason? Don’t know. Meaning? Pretty much the same.

Let’s engrave victory in our minds
And run towards it! Blue Rise!!

Notes:

– Thanks to Violet for the lyrics again, and also for pointing me out that the guitar solo at 0:19 sounds exactly like Reincarnation, theme of Mima from Phantasmagoria of Dimensional Dream. I mean, They’re identical.
– “This shout roars like an explosion!” Refers to the previous sentence, “Come on, let’s risk everything and fight!”
– 勝利刻め強く (shouri kizame tsuyoku) (let’s engrave victory in our mind) should be “let’s strongly engrave victory”, but it also implies something like “let’s think strongly that we’re going to win”, so I found that version of mine more fitting.
– Remember that we’re talking about battleships, so terms such as “body of steel” or “digits” should not be so out of place.

(Empire Ensemble) 茶太 – 君は進む

kongou sink

I had some time to think about my website.
All I realized is that it was just sitting there, getting dust and being used just to post news from my youtube channel.
Anime reviews? Not my thing. I can’t write as much as I wish I could.
Youtube posts? Kinda sad, isn’t it?
Episode Summaries? Fun, but takes way too much work.
My first blog was about translations and translations only.
I liked it, though I didn’t liked my modus operandi nor the fact that I translated in italian, leaving few possibilities of receiving any kind feedback.
No one wants to do something without getting something in exchange, Am I right?
I’ve also noticed how people liked my translations of Ping Pong OP or songs by Absolute Castaway… So, back on track, I’m getting back to translating song lyrics.
Doujin, Touhou, Kancolle, Anime, Miscellaneous, everything is fine.
The next year will be the year I get back on track.
I’ve improved so much and I love to share the songs I love with those who can’t translate any of them by themselves.
So, here I am!
I’ll start translating songs from January, but for now, to celebrate my decision, here’s the lyrics and the translation of a song I like a lot: 君は進む.
Circle is Empire Ensemble, and the song is an arrange from Kantai Collection’s port theme.
Without further ado, here’s my translated version!

Empire Ensemble – 君は進む

君の手を取り 共に夢を見た人は
水底に沈んだ、

kimi no te o tori tomo ni yume o mita hito wa
minasoko ni shizunda,

I hold your hand, along with the person who was dreaming
Sinking in the bottom of the sea

揺れる水面に 仲間の背を見だして
追いかけて 声の限り叫び震えていた

yureru minamo ni nakama no se o midashite
oi kakete koe no kagiri sakebi furueteita

On the swaying water’s surface I head torwards my comrade’s back
Chasing after the voice that was screaming to its limit, trembling.

この道の 後に何が残るの?
声が聞こえて 何度も振り返る
俯く君は、今にも折れそうだよ

kono michi no ato ni nani ga nokoru no?
koe ga kikoete nandomo furikaeru
utsumuku kimi wa, ima ni mo oresou da yo

What’s left after this journey?
I can hear a voice, I turn around many times over
And you, bending down, seem to be breaking.

夢を失い 過去を手放しても尚
ともしびを守りながら夜明けを待っている

yume wo ushinai kako o tebanashitemo nao
tomoshibi wo mamorinagara yoake o matteiru

Dreams are lost, and yet holding onto my past
While protecting those lights, I’m waiting for the dawn.

この道の先に何が見えるの?
崩れ落ちた 祖国に雪が舞う

kono michi no saki ni nani ga mieru no?
kuzureochita sokoku ni yuki ga mau

What can you see before this journey?
On my crumbled down native country, the snow is dancing…

君は進む 誰の支えも無しに
明日へ…..

kimi wa susumu dare no sasae mo nashi ni
ashita e…

You, towards tomorrow, even without no one supporting you…
Are moving forward…

Notes:

– 道 is always a problem when it comes to translation. It could mean “way”/”Street” even in a philosophical way, so it’s easy translated as “Journey”. I prefered using this translation, but keep on mind that it could mean a lot of things.
