hato ga tonda wa kaban o motte
kinou no anata ni rettsu goo rettsu goo
inori o motte bigaku o motte

A dove was flying, holding her bag –
Let’s go, let’s go back to your yesterday self
Holding our prayers, our aesthetics
Let’s turn our back to the Moon and let’s go, let’s go
Aah, the sea burned away
Aah, I felt like I’ve been born the moment my breath stopped

kakawarazu hashiru hito gomi yoku otozureta yoku otozureta
sakaraezu aruku shoutengai ano koro no futari kurashiteita ne

All the crowds running in spite of everything – I know them, I know them
And I walk the shop district without going against them – Yet I wanted to live as who we were back then

hato ga tonda wa kaban o motte
kinou no anata ni rettsu goo rettsu goo
inori o motte bigaku o motte

Let’s go, let’s go back to your yesterday self
Holding our prayers, our aesthetics
Let’s turn our back to the Moon and let’s go, let’s go
Aah, the sea burned away
Aah, I felt like I’ve been born the moment my breath stopped

pika pika ni hikaru shinsekai yoku ni mamireta yku ni mamireta
teashi o noseru wa Nankai honsen doko e ikou misaki kouen

The new world is sparkling with light, smeared in greed, smeared in greed
And what runs over my limbs is the Nankai main line – Where will it go? Misaki Park.

kono yo de, ichiban, hayai, ikimono
umare ochita umare ochita
“shinitai no” “dame yo” “mou dame yo”
ano koro no futari omoidashitari shite mite

The fastest, living creature, in the whole, world
It has born, it has born
“I want to die” “it’s not good” “I’m done for”
Just try to remember how we were back then

kakawarazu hashiru shinsekai yoku otozureta yoku otozureta

The new world is running in spite of everything – I know that, I know that

Notes:

– Second stanza: “yoku otozureru” usually means “visits often”, so in a sense it’s a sentence which states familiarity with something. That’s why I’ve translated it this way.
– Fourth stanza: “Nankai honsen” is a railway line in Oosaka, which also stops in Misaki, famous for its park (click each words for more infos). Don’t question much about this whole stanza: Midori lyrics are mostly random nonsense.

About foregroundnoises

I'm a 23 y.o. italian guy, I have a degree in japanese language & culture and I'm currently advancing in my studies. I love music but I'm too self-destructive to attempt to produce it myself. Sometimes I gaze at my shoes and think it's a nice genre. Mainly translating japanese music lyrics (Touhou / doujin / indie / etc) and Gaki no Tsukai clips (worked with Team Gaki too).
