doramachikku na koi ni nare

May this love become dramatic!
The you from that day, laughing inside that picture…
The memories from three years ago are on the verge of moving just now!

tamatama mitsuketa shiroi wanpiisu de

I took off the clothes I couldn’t get to wear countless times
They don’t suit me! – just complainin’ a little bit
But with that white one-piece dress I found by chance
I could get out and to go meet you!

Tick-tack – the clock is sounding as if it wants to irritate me;
I look outside the window: arrangements are OK!

Notes:

– that “nare” なれ (nare) is actually an imperative verb, so it should be more like “Become a dramatic love!” as if it was an order. But I didn’t like it this way. Aka my translation is my personal choice.
– 重ねてく (kasaneteku) means “to pile up”, but being that we’re talking about colors (acrylic) I found “to mix” to be better.

rg5

【Requested by B016

Today’s song seems to be an original track from the famous circle Register6, which we know for their touhou arranges.
I’m not a big fan of this circle, I’m rather a big fan of certain songs they made.
If someone made me listen to this song without telling me who’s behind it, I would have never guessed it was something by this circle.
It sounds way too visual-kei-iish for my tastes, but lyrics are fine I guess.
And I’m not even making a comment about that “sadame”, this time.
Is it possible that this song is about Steins;Gate? I mean, “世界線”, “opposing to fates”, “changing world lines”… Mh. Not sure, but that’s what this song made me think about.
Enjoy!

I grasp at the future but that was too far away.
nevertheless…

shibarareta kuukyo na sekai bakagete iru
jiyuu wa kuru no darou ka wakaranai mama de

This tied up empty world is just fooling around
As I’m here, not knowing if freedom will eventually come

I don’t surrender to fate.
I continue to fight a fate.
Put a stop to the negative chain.

kurutta sekai torawareta hikari motome
bokutachi no mirai o tsukami torunda
itsuwari no kanjou ni imi nado nakute
sukoshi no yuuki de ii aragau sube o

I’ll seek for the light this mad world has stolen
So we could get our own future back;
There isn’t a thing such as a meaning inside fake emotions
So even a bit of courage is fine, let’s just resist

shinda kanjou ga utsushita disutopia de
mirai ga aru no darou ka wakaranai mama de
motomeru

As we still don’t know if there lies a future
In the distopia reflected by our dead emotions
We’ll seek for it

tatakai nuku koto ga sonzai shoumei
shuusokusuru sadame ni aragatteiku
bokutachi no mirai tsukamu sono hi made
tatakai nuku tame no tsuyoi ishi o

Fighting until the very end is a proof of existence,
We’ll rebel against our destiny until it’ll be back to normal
Until the day we’ll seize our own future
We’ll show our strong resolution of fighting to the end

mugen no kanousei ga matteiru darou
rifujin’na sadame nado wa kaete yaru
mujihina sekai ni shuushifu o

In the future just before our world line
Should be waiting endless possibilities;
We’ll change those things such as irrational destinies
And put an end to this ruthless world!

nigeru nante arienai
tachi mukatte ikunda
bokutachi no mirai tsukamu sono hi made
shippai wa yurusarenai wakatteru
tatakai nuku tame no tsuyoi ishi o
ima koko ni

Running away isn’t an option,
We’ll fight against it!
We know that until the day we’ll seize our own future
Failure isn’t something we could forgive,
So we’ll show our strong resolution of fighting to the end
Here and now!

Notes:

– 理想郷 in the fifth stanza is read as “ディストピア (distopia)”, while it should be read as “risoukyou”. Fun thing is that “risoukyou” means “utopia”, which is the exact opposite thing.
– 求める in the fifth stanza isn’t featured in the lyrics’ booklet. I’ve added it anyways, because it can clearly be heard in the song.

My Dead Girlfriend – Watashi no Aishita Manatsu no Shinigami

manatu

[2017 edit: lol newbie]
I want to keep posting more songs from this band (though I also want to post others), because I think I ended up falling in love with them more than I thought I could.
I love today’s song even more than the other from the previous post, both in terms of music and lyrics. And it’s absolutely my favourite song by My Dead Girlfriend [2017 edit: it still is].
Let’s start with its title “watashi no aishita manatsu no shinigami” (My Beloved Midsummer God of Death). That alone was enough to charm me.
Summer itself it’s a pretty nostalic season in my mind. As I picture Summer, I always picture a twilight, and a reddening setting Sun which seems it could last forever, but never actually does.
That’s why the title caught my attention so much. Because it reminded me of my very own “Midsummer God of Death”.
[2017 brutal edit over removed sections]
I couldn’t find a picture that perfectly resembles what this song makes me feel, though. And I’m really sad about it.
I really care about this post, this song, my translation, everything on it.
I hope you enjoy. I’ll also leave a subbed video for this song by me.

My Dead Girlfriend – Watashi no Aishita Manatsu no Shinigami

uchiage hanabi, ukanda
furanshita kimi no shitai
saigo no yoru da to shite mo
issho ni irete yokatta

Skyrocket fireworks and your
floating decomposing corpse;
Even if this will be our last night
I’m glad we could be together

uchiage hanabi to kieta
hakanai ano ko no kimochi
saigo ni ieta to shite mo
kitto tsutawaranakatta

Those fickle feelings from that time
Disappeared along with the skyrocket fireworks
Even if I’d tell you at the very end
You wouldn’t understand it, I’m sure of it

sansan to terasu taiyou no shita
boku wa hitori, me o mawasu
hatake ni saku himawari sae, boku o waratteiru
dandan to kureteyuku yuuhi de
kimi no koto o omoidasu
itsuka wa wasureru omoide
hanarerarezu ni iru

Under the bright shining Sun
I’m alone, looking around
As even sunflowers blooming on the fields are laughing at me;
By the setting Sun, sinking gradually,
I’m remembering about you
As the memories one day I’ll forget
Are still here, without getting away

yureru kimi no kami no ke ya
tooku hibiku ashioto ni
boku no atama no naka de wa
ima mo ai ni yukeru

Your hair rustled by the wind
Or the sound of your steps, echoing in distance;
They’re all inside my head
And I can even meet them now

sansan to terasu taiyou no shita
boku wa hitori, me o mawasu
hatake ni saku himawari sae, boku o waratteiru
dandan to kureteyuku yuuhi de
kimi no koto o omoidasu
itsuka wa wasureru omoide
hanarerarezu ni iru

Under the bright shining Sun
I’m alone, looking around
As even sunflowers blooming on the fields are laughing at me;
By the setting Sun, sinking gradually,
I’m remembering about you
As the memories one day I’ll forget
Are still here, without getting away

yureru kimi no kami no ke ya
tooku hibiku ashioto ni
boku no atama no naka de wa
ima mo ai ni yukeru

Your hair rustled by the wind
Or the sound of your steps, echoing in distance;
They’re all inside my head
And I can even meet them now

Notes:

– Last stanza (last?) features a personal choice of mine. “yureru” (揺れる) means “to sway”, but of course it’s implying the movement of the hair while being rustled by the wind. Thus my translation. Because I love that kind of image and I know it’s what the song’s talking about. It would also felt kind of weird, otherwise.

ABSOLUTE CASTAWAY –

kikai

There will always be space and time for this circle, I treasure it more than lots of others.
Probably one of the most well known ABSOLUTE CASTAWAY‘s songs.
I had another post ready, but I’m delaying it to next week or so, mainly because I didn’t want to have two similar posts one after another.
ABSOLUTE CASTAWAY are perfect to fill this gap. I’ll also get my hands on some requests in the meanwhile.
I couldn’t find an english translation to this song. It may be already translated, but I couldn’t find someone else translate it before.
On a side, I’m glad I was the first to translate some ABSOLUTE CASTAWAY’s songs and probably I’ll keep being the first translating others, but on the other side it’s pretty sad to see that no one else seems to translate them.
After all, they’re a really good circle and they’re also apreciated by western fans.
I’m taking this cause to heart.
About this song, I like its happy sounding rhythm as well as its overall oriental vibe.
It’s pretty different from other songs by them, and that’s what caught my attention the most.
If it wasn’t for the japanese lyrics, one could have even wondered if it was something wrote by a japanese.
This circle is really something, they can make lots of styles without failing at none of them.
And even Mitsuki‘s voice is amazing, being really fit for lots of genres, from gothic metal to traditional music.

ABSOLUTE CASTAWAY –

kieyuku monogatari houseki o suna ni kae
kishimu hari o hibikase toki wa meguriyuku
itsuka wa kieru sono utagoe de
tsumugiaeba ashita ga hajimaru

A vanishing story of jewels turning into sand
As the time turns onwards, letting its clockhands creak
If with this singing voice that one day will fade away
We’ll be able to spin together, then tomorrow will start

zutto zutto kimi o matsu tozashita hako no naka de
itsuka itsuka kuchihatete kotoba o wasurete mo

I’ll wait you forever, forever, inside this locked up box
One day, one day, even if I’ll rust away and forget how to speak…

doko made aruitemo owari no mienai hibi
kasumu kako no kioku kiri ni tsutsumarete
itsuka wa kieru ano yakusoku ni
shibarareteru watashi wa ningyou?

No matter how far I walk, in those days where the end can’t be seen
The memories from a hazy past are enfolding me in a mist

mawaru mawaru senritsu wa rinne no tabiji no naka
hitotsu hitotsu yurusareta asu e no michishirube

The rhythm spinning round and round in the midst of the Samsara journey
Is a signpost for each over each tomorrow I’ve forgiven

kimi no tame ni kanadeyou kikai shikake no uta o
tsuyoku tsuyoku sakihokore itsuka kareru hi made
zutto zutto kimi o matsu tozashita yume no naka de
itsuka itsuka suterarete anata ga wasurete mo

I’ll dance for your sake to a mechanical device’s song
And bloom fully with all my strenght until the day I’ll wither;
I’ll wait you forever, forever, inside this locked up dream
One day, one day, even if I’ll be thrown away and you’ll forget about me…

Notes:

– 輪廻 (rinne) = Samsara, aka the buddhist circle of life and death and rencarnation. Thus “round and round” (廻る廻る).
– There’s a stanza which is not featured in the booklet, right after the song ends. It says “ずっとずっと君を待つ” (zutto zutto kimi o matsu), meaning “I’ll wait you forever, forever”, just like the second stanza.

My Dead Girlfriend – Conception For Three Forms Of Unhappiness At The State Of Existence

yuuhi2

I guess today’s post is different from the others, a little bit more serious, and probably holds a bigger value than lots of previous ones.
I want to talk a bit about it, about music, about everything that makes my vision a little bit more clear.
I always separated japanese music from non-japanese music.
For some reason, I can’t easily say that I listen to some artists / bands and also to japanese ones. It’s just too strange to me, and I really don’t know why. Even though I listen more to non-japanese music, I love japanese music, whether it’s doujin, touhou, arranges, originals, whatever.
Then, I’ve found out about Shoegaze, a post-rock musical sub-genre.
There are lots of japanese shoegaze bands that I’ve listened to until now.
Finding out about shoegaze and similar post-rock styles of music opened up a new world before my very eyes.
The barrier between japanese and non japanese music suddenly crumbled for a while. I think japanese shoegaze was the music genre I was unconsciously searching for a long time.
That’ why today’s post is a special one. Because rather than the song itself, it’s about a genre, about music, about a new look to the same world.
But of course it’s also a translation post, being this blog about them, at least on a foreground side.
I can’t do anything more than suggesting you bands like My Dead Girlfriend, Shoujoskip, Tokyo Shoegazer, Clams, She Her Her Hers, Asobi Sex, Parasol, and lots more…
I wish I could make posts like this one, introducing to you more songs, artist, band and styles of this genre, but the sad thing is that the lyrics are pretty damn impossible to find.
So, if I happen to find some, expect more shoegaze-focused posts like this.
I think this style of music reflects my style / ideals / vision of the world more than touhou arranges / doujin music does, that’s why I want to give it more space on my wordpress.
And that’s why it’s so important to me. I couldn’t care less about becoming someone online.
But if I have to write about something, I’d like to write more about what really matters to me. Or better, to the one behind Shion, behind Foreground Noises, behind everything else.
Let’s get to the song, Conception For Three Forms Of Unhappiness At The State Of Existence (kind of a long title, huh?).
It’s not the song I love the most from My Dead Girlfriend (those could may be Watashi no Aishita Manatsu no Shinigami, Sweet Days and Her Last Kiss or Nou ni Tokeru Asobi etc etc…), and I don’t even think that’s the most appropriate song to act as a symbol for japanese shoegaze, but I like it a lot anyways, and I was lucky enough to find its lyrics online.
I don’t think these lyrics are about a suicide. Or better, not an actual one.
I can totally see a love story filled with gaps they couldn’t fill, something the person talking in the lyrics maybe didn’t want, but now can’t stop thinking about.
As if he/she finally understood the value of something he/she had right after he/she lost it.
While the other… jumped down. To his/her own life. Towards his/her own choices that, maybe, lead him/her into someone else.
Songs like that can only come out from the cracks of a broken heart. That’s what makes it really beautiful.
That’s probably why I can feel it all very close to me.
I hope someone will spend some minutes to read this and to listen to this song and others.
I think that’s the beginning of a new type of posts.
It’s a matter of lyrics after all. Expect more posts like that in the future. From the same band too (foreshadowing next post?).
[2017 edit: keeping this wall of text untouched. Good memories!]

My Dead Girlfriend – Conception For Three Forms Of Unhappiness At The State Of Existence

semi ga potori to ochite
natsu no hibiki ga yomigaeru
kuchihateta ude kakaete
kimi to no hibi o omoidasu

A cicada falls down making a faint sound
And the echo of summer is yet revived
Holding my arm under yours, decayed,
Remembering the days I spent with you

“いつかは”なんて はしゃいで
夏の畦道 暮れる夕陽
繋いだ腕が離れて
田んぼの悪魔 踊りだす

“itsuka wa” nante hashai de
natsu no azemichi kureru yuuhi
tsunaida ude ga hanarete
tanbo no akuma odoridasu

“One day”, with such joy,
On a footpath between rice fields, by the setting sun
The arm I held firmly slipped away
As the ricefield’s demons started dancing

I’ll run after you, I’ll chase you
And I’ll lay my hands on your shoulders
I’ll run after you, I’ll chase you
And I’ll catch your breath

You took me on an outside world
On that almost cloudless sunday
And, a bit bashfully,
You held my sleeves tightly

sukoshi hareta nichiyoubi ni
kimi o damashite tojikometa
nido to moto ni modosenai
kimi wa hitori de tobi orita

On that almost cloudless sunday
I locked you up in my lies;
I can’t go back from the beginning
Because you jumped down by yourself

The things I couldn’t say before… right now, once more…

Notes:

– 二人の幻 (futari no maboroshi) fourth stanza. It’s “two illusions”, but the counter used for “maboroshi” (illusion) is “hito” (person), so it’s refering to “illusion”, but it’s implying that they’re two persons.

[REQUEST] UNDEAD CORPORATION –

I have the feeling I have heard this song before, but I actually haven’t.
But I swear the intro reminds me of a Merami song I’ve forgot about (was it Black Parrot?).
This song booklet wasn’t my best ally. No readings whatsoever, and also featured some cut sentences which I had to write myself.
The song itself is nice, though.
Let’s make a note before the other notes. The title for this song (which also appears in the lyrics) is “utsubo-bune”. I did some researches, because I had no idea what it meant.
It looks like this utsubo-bune (also known as “utsuro-bune” “虚舟” – hollow ship) is a legend first appeared in the 19th century on several japanese folk tales and novels, as well as on several illustration.
It’s about a cylindrical UFO-shaped ship which appears from the sky and lands on Earth, along with a beautiful woman which is not able to speak human’s language.
This tale is both considered part of japanese folklore and, according to some ufologists, an undeniable proof of close encounters of the third kind.
I left “hollow ship” on the translation, but keep this story in mind. Of course is refering to Nue, which is considered to be a sort of “alien” in the Touhou universe.
Also, the whole concept of UFO themselves in TH12 is probably based off utsubo-bune to begin with.

UNDEAD CORPORATION –

yurushite to sakendemo doko ni mo todokanai doushite na no
fukai kokuen no naka watashi o toraeteiru no wa dare

I wonder why no matter how much I scream my voice won’t reach anywhere;
Who’s capturing me, inside this deep black smoke?

shinobi yoru kage ni yugamu kuchimoto
furikaeru mono no yami ga aru dake
nakisakebu ga ii karehateru made

A shadow draws near, unnoticed, with a crooked smile
Darkness is the only thing I can look back at
I guess it’s fine if I’d cry until the very end
Because there’s no thing such as an escape

nodo ni kuikonda no mouko no yaiba
torawareshi mono o hanashi wa shinai

The fierce-tiger blade stuck on my troath
Won’t release none of the humans it has captured

kirikizamite umi ni nagase do yami wa harenu zo!

Even if you’d cut it in pieces and let it flow in the sea, the darkness won’t clear up!

yurushite to sakendemo doko ni mo todokanai doushite na no
fukai kokuen no naka watashi o toraeteiru no wa dare

I wonder why no matter how much I scream my voice won’t reach anywhere;
Who’s capturing me, inside this deep black smoke?

nouzui o kakemeguru nakigoe ni
senaka ni hashiru wa hebi no muchiato
hoho wo tsutau no wa kurenai no suji
kizuato no ue ni mata kizuato o

This roaring voice running through my head
Is that of the snake running on my back
My cheeks makes a crimson line appear
Making new scars right where there were already others

hitosuji no hikari o tsukame do sore wa tada kokuu

Even if I’d grasp a single ray of light, it’ll be just void

dore hodo toki ga tateba yami no soko kara nukedaseru no
kono karada mushibamare kemono ni narihateru mae ni

How many time should pass before I can leap away from this deep darkness?
Before my body will be consumed, before I’d be reduced into a mere beast…

yurayura tayutau kono utsubo-bune ni yurarete
kono mama dokomade mo dokomade mo
kokoro to karada ga yureteiru kurushimi to kairaku
majiri atte ochite tobenakunattara

Swaying up and down, I’m swayed by this hollow-ship
Everywhere, everywhere, just like that;
The suffering and pleasure swayed by my body and heart…
If they would blend together and fall down, unable to fly again, then…

yurushite to sakendemo doko ni mo todokanai doushite na no
fukai kokuen no naka watashi o toraeteiru no wa dare

I wonder why no matter how much I scream my voice won’t reach anywhere;
Who’s capturing me, inside this deep black smoke?

dore hodo toki ga tateba yami no soko kara nukedaseru no
kono karada mushibamare kemono ni narihateru mae ni
kemono ni nare

How many time should pass before I can leap away from this deep darkness?
Before my body will be consumed, before I’d be reduced into a mere beast…
…Become a beast.

Notes:

– 猛虎の刃 (mouko no yaiba) ok, that’s probably some kind of quote / whatever I didn’t grasp. “mouko” is “fierce tiger” (literally), “yaiba” is sword / knife.
So…? Beats me. The whole song is about Nue, not only the character, but also the creature. So, “black smoke” or “tiger” could be linked to the Nue creature, which bears resemblance with a tiger and it’s said to be able to turn into a black mist.
– I have NO idea how 底 is read on the fourth to last stanza. It should be read “soko”, but on the booklet there’s no reading for it. I keep on hearing 空想~空想家 (kuusou – kuusouka | fantasy, visionary) but I can’t understand clearly. Plus this song is 120% vocal effects, so understanding what she’s saying is not easy. I’m very sorry about this. If you know what she says, let me know.
