I didn’t know this circle (I knew IZNA, though. I like her!), and I must say it’s not bad at all.
Its rhythm is really something outstanding.
The guitar intro too is something pretty unusual for a japanese song, kinda reminds me of those hard rock american bands. It’s very good.
The lyrics are… kind of a letdown, to be honest.

– Serious notes, 「逝って」 “itte” here is used to say “go”, but the verb with THAT kanji is used to say “to pass away”. So, “just go” = “just die”

Time for fresh Touhou stuff (which I still occasionally and randomly search for online).
First of all, thanks to BackBurner12 from dojin.co for sending me the booklet’s scans.
I was searching for them and he really helped me out. Once more, thank you so much!
The Battlefield of Hanahazama (Or the Flower Threshold or whatever) is probably one of my favourite touhou theme ever.
Since I first listened to it, I fell in love with it, and it still is high on my top 10 touhou themes so far.
And of course, a good arrange from that theme is welcome.
But that’s not all!
This song is an arrange of A Flower-Studded Sake Dish on Mt. Ooe and Oni’s Island in the Fairyland ~ Missing Power too!
That’s crazy, and it works incredibly well.
I never listened anything by this singer, Stack (2017 edit: I was young), but I like her powerful voice a lot, it kinda reminds me of Itou Kanako‘s style (The singer of Steins;Gate‘s openings).
Anyway, this is a triple arrange mainly because of the popular theory that states that Kasen is an Oni.
Maybe the lyrics are nothing out of the ordinary, but everything else may be just a little bit over your typical Touhou arrange.
And that’s what really matters, right? 50% right. Or maybe 43%.

Notes:

– The lyrics has a lot of english words in it. I decided to left them unchanged both in the romaji transcription and the translation. The original english words are marked with a capital letter.
– The whole lyrics seems to be linked to Urban Legend in Limbo’s plot.
– デタラメ (detarame) is not a really gentle word. It means “nonsense” or “random stuff”, but in a not-so-good way. So, “bullshit” fits better than anything else. And remember, kids. Kasen’s point of view.
– First stanza: 願い (negai) vs 欲望 (yokubou). You can translate both as “desire”, but they’re different. “negai” implies a genuine wish, while “yokubou” implies an avid desire, a lust for something. In my translation, “negai” is wish (a softer word) while “yokubou” is desire (a little bit more “aggressive”).
– 求め続ける何か (motome tsudzukeru nanika), Third Stanza. I’ve added “I don’t know” because “nani ka” implies something unknown, not yet defined. It fits better this way.

DAOKO – Girl (Side B – ゆめみてたのあたし) part 2/2

As promised, here’s part 2 of Girl by DAOKO.
This segment is kind of sadder and a lot calmer than the previous one.
In terms of animation, it’s amazing.
I don’t really know how to follow its plot, giving that, at the very end, the characters from the previous animation Me!Me!Me! are shown again.
The part that I liked the most is the one at 5:01, where a man literally scratches away his body trying to find his own heart, and ends up finding only a heart-shaped hole and crumbling away.
I don’t exactly know the meaning of the whole video, but this part was really something.
It may be a whole metaphore for love viewed on its two sides.
The first side, explained in the first segment, is the research for love.
We want love not because we need it, but because we feel lonely to the point that we can’t see other solutions other than the cure of being loved by someone.
The other face of it, is the obsession, aka the love turned dark.
And that’s why, in my opinion, the very last part of the video is kind of creepy, with the main character gazing up the sky with mad eyes as the center of the city is filled up with people with flowers instead of their head and a giant pulsating heart.
I don’t know if that’s its meaning, but it looks like it, to me.
Even the poor cat turns into a useless doll when the attention of the main character is focused on love!
And even that scene I liked a lot makes sense, if that’s the meaning of the whole video.
I have no idea. I like it a lot, though.

Notes:

– Second-to-Last stanza: “suki” (to like, to love) is wrote in hiragana, katakana and kanji, each one of this for one time. Reason? I have no idea!
– Last stanza: ないものねだり (nai mono nedari) means “to ask for what’s impossible”, commonly used in english as “asking for the moon”. I used the second one because it was more fitting, giving that the Moon appears also in the first half of this song.

One year ago, there was this Me!Me!Me! music video that everyone has watched at least 1000 times.
Well, here’s its spiritual sequel! Girl, DAOKO again.
They’re both from the same author and the songs featuring in them are by the same singer.
Well, at least this time the whole focus won’t be on tits and asses and whatthefuckamaIwatching, right?
Well, to be honest, what caught my attention on Me!Me!Me! were the colors and the animation, and in this one they’re even better.
It’s so fresh to see color so bright and animation so fluid in this era where every anime looks the friggin’ same (reminder: I’m not watching an anime since JoJo ended).
The whole song is, like Me!Me!Me!, cut in more than a part.
While Me!Me!Me! had three segments, this one has only two.
I was planning on doing a double post to fit them both, but I have no time to do it, and so I’m kinda forced to make two posts about them.
The first is, of course, this one, the next one will be posted within 24 hours.
I’m rushing! I feel the urge to add it to foregroundnoises!
The lyrics were on the original websites, so I just had to make a translation out of them!

Notes:

– First stanza: 月の裏側 (tsuki no uragawa) means “the other side of the moon”, but I felt like “dark side of the moon” was better. I-it’s not like I fucking love Pink Floyd or something…
– Second stanza: さみしい (samishii, which is also in the title), could mean a lot of things. “sad”, “lonely” or even “pitiful”. I thought “lonely” was the best option.
– Third stanza: 影 (kage) usually is “shadow”. I left it this way. But it could mean a lot of things, like reflection, image, silhouette. In this song, is placed without a context, so…
– Last stanza: “I” (in english) is pronounced as 愛 (ai), japanese word for “love”. Puns!
– The “I love” part on the last stanza is like a chorus, so the lyrics on its right side are the actual lyrics segment.

CLOCKWORKS TRACER – Return to Forsetia (Departure Beyond Our Despair and Hope, The Provoked, Cross the Luminous Ocean)

You should always expect Clockworks Tracer (or ABSOLUTELY CASTAWAY) to pop out of nowhere here and there on foregroundnoises.
Let’s try to close the Return To Forsetia Chapter!
I already did something like that for Eschatologia E.P. , didn’t I?
Anyways, those three songs are mostly in english, so there’s not really too much to translate.
I felt it would be a waste to do a single post about each one of them, so I decided to put them together into a single huge post, again.
So, let’s start with order, from the first to the last: Departure Beyond Our Despair and Hope, The Provoked, Cross the Luminous Ocean.

CLOCKWORKS TRACER – Departure Beyond Our Despair and Hope

Now, I feel bad for what I did on the last Clockworks Tracer post. I mean, the fact I used a picture of Yukari instead of a Ran one.
Because this song is an arrange of Necrofantasia, and of course it means Yukari.
But who cares? I don’t. Ok, maybe just a little. Booooooobies!
Anyway, being the song mostly in english, there are a lot of sentences that makes sense but are not wrote in the most splendid way.
Japanese people struggle against english, you know.
So, if you see some error in the english lyrics, it’s meant to be.
I copied it from the booklet (who was it that gave it to me..? thanks anyway), and everything you see is exactly what Yapan wrote.
WeatherH is amazing in this one, it’s kind of sad that her part is so small.
She’s really good at reaching high notes, and her sound fits very well with the rhythm of Necrofantasia.
There’s nothing much to note about this, so… here’s the lyrics!

The first arrange of Dullahan under the Willows on foregroundnoises, guys!
I like that theme, and Sekibanki kicks ass.
Once again, the scream vocal is not by Yapan, but that’s pretty common for this album.
Yapan is always behind the lyrics / arrangement, and he leaves a lot of space for other singers to take his place.
He’s a nice guy, really! …At least, that’s the picture that comes to my mind when I think about this.
Once again, I wish the part sang by WeatherH would have been longer, not only because I like her voice, but also because it’s more similar to the original theme, and that’s something good to hear in a touhou arrange.
Don’t mind some english, once again.
Also, some japanese words in this song were really hard, I must say.

Notes:

– 垂れ (shidare) should be read as “tare”, normally, but here is read as if it’s the compound word 枝垂れ (shidare). Its meaning, however, doesn’t change. It says “shidare” because 枝垂れ柳 (shidare yanagi) is the japanese name for the weeping willow. “Willow” usually appears when refered to Sekibanki, being part of the name of her theme.
– 傀儡 (tarinai) another special reading. It should be read as “kugutsu”, meaning “puppet” (those with wires), but here is read as “tarinai” 足りない, meaning “not enough”. I’m not really sure that’s its true reading, but the booklet doesn’t state anything about it and I keep hearing this. If I’m wrong, feel free to point that out!

An arrange of Fires of Hokkai and Captain Murasa? I’m fucking sold.
There’s a single japanese stanza in the whole song, so making a single post just for this would have been stupid.
But it’s amazing to hear WeatherH singing in english with Yapan!
And to be honest, her pronunciation is not that bad. Maybe not perfect, but surely way better than tons and tons of japanese singers attempting english I’ve listened to before.
The song, I must say, is amazing.
The lyrics though…
I laughed my ass off on that “I can stand and go hard (…)”. What’s the meaning of this? It sounds so wrong!

Notes:

– 繋げよう (tsunageyou) the verb “tsunagu” means “to connect”, but in this song I’ve translated it as “live”. That’s because translating “let’s connect again that dream” felt really weird, and the meaning is, obviously, to live that dream again. So, it’s not a literal translation, but it fits way better, in my opinion.
