The route that has been shut is the destiny I’m aiming at,
A roulette game that starts spinning.

The world sprit above, I’ll walk over any illusion, more than everyone,
Now I have it in my hands, how to be brave!
I’ll smash up this instant, eternally!

Even if I’d try to call out for your small soul
To the edge of this darkening world… relapsing

The world sprit above こうして何度も超えてく

The world sprit above 天と地 炎帝 煌き
for the this time, how to be brave!
蒼い光よ 巡れ…!

the world sprit above koushite nandomo koeteku

the world sprit above ten to chi entei kirameki

The world sprit above; I’ll overcome such things infinite times;
I believe I can fullfil the destiny I’m grasping!
The world sprit above the flame emperor radiating between Heaven and Earth
For the this time, how to be brave!
Follow it… that blue light..!

Notes:

– first of all, engrish and english are blend together in the translation. I kept every single engrish sentence, even though they didn’t make much sense. That’s a japanese-to-english translation wordpress, not an english-to-english one.
– “attack comma #1″… well, I don’t know if it makes sense. I’m not really a war expert. Also, why those kancollish lyrics? Btw this song was released even before Kancolle existed… probably.
– Last stanza, “Entei” is the name of the legendary chinese Yan Emperor. I really don’t know who he is or why is he refered to in this song. I know for sure that this songs refers to him, being the kanji the same (and having no other meanings beside this one). Also, yeah, the pokémon Entei seems to come from this emperor too.
By the way, I translated it as “the flame emperor” because it sounded cooler, though I don’t really know what kind of drinks the touhou lyricists store in their shelves… (I’d like to know that, though)
– Sorry I had to keep that “the this” in the last stanza. It’s part of the original lyrics. I’m sorry, grammar.

A diaspora of travellers with dry eyes…

Notes:

– Diaspora is a greek term which implies a forced migration of an entire race / group of people in order to scatter through different territories. I made this note because I wasn’t aware myself of this word, so…
– I wrote “Today” like this because I wanted to point out that it’s the subject of the whole stanza.
– Some english words appear in katakana inside the lyrics, like “diaspora”, “stranger” or “fantasia”. I struggled a bit fitting them in the translation without changing them, but I kinda managed to avoid a clusterfuck. I think.

And start running through my own way!

Notes:

– 瞬間 (shunkan) in the first stanza, meaning “moment” is read as “toki”, meaning “time”.
– 唯我独尊 (yuigadokuson) means “self-conceit”, “vainglory”. It’s kinda strange how it’s put inside the song without actually being connected to any other sentence. So, I wrote it inside quotation marks.
– 時代の渦中 (jidai no kachuu) litterally means “in the midst of the era”, is read as “toki no naka”, meaning “inside the time”. Kinda the same thing, but the readings totally change.
– 己が道 (ono ga michi) that could may have a double meaning. The kanji “michi”, for “road” (道) is the same kanji that in chinese is read as “tao”, the symbol for taoism. So, I left “way” as its is meaning, but keep in mind that this kanji may have been selected because of its history / double meaning.

[REQUEST] Elemental Records – 眠らない星

gnrc

【Requested by Alv‏

So, today’s song is an arrange from Sleepless Night of the Eastern Country, which is also my personal favourite theme from Shoot the Bullet.
As Alv made me notice, I’m not sure whether this song is refering to Aya or not.
At some points, it could may imply that it’s probably more Mary-Renko related.
And that could make sense, being Sleepless Night of the Eastern Country featured in Magical Astronomy too.
But once again, in the last part of the song keeps repeating things such as “soaring the skies” or “faster and faster”, so in the end I decided to put a picture of Aya because I found it more fitting.

But before that, it flickered until it disappeared..

And until the whole world turns red

Even if the Sun rises on the other side of the Earth’s surface…

貴方が願い終わるまで 私は眠らない

anata ga negai owaru made watashi wa nemuranai

…I won’t sleep, until your wish will be granted.

Notes:

– When the song talks about that “climbing up a hill”, I meant it to be “climb the hill in order to see the shooting star again”. But not being sure it was understandable, here’s this note. Btw, today I’m dyslexic.
– Also yeah, the song repeats “nemuranai yoru” more than once in the same stanza, that’s why I kept adding “sleepless night” more than once per stanza in the translation too.
– 惑星 (wakusei) is read as “hoshi”. While “wakusei” means “planet”, “hoshi” means “star”, but strange thing is that “hoshi” could also mean “planet”, while “wakusei” can’t mean “star”. I think… I put a really simple concept into a grammar clusterfuck. I’m sorry.
– It’s pretty strange the fact that, in the last stanza, it uses 終わる (owaru, “to end”) instead of 叶う (kanau, “to grant”) refering to “wish”. I translated it as “wish will be granted”, because I didn’t find “wish will be over” to be fitting / good sounding. But keep in mind that “over” is a more correct translation, according to the japanese lyrics.

[REQUEST] 金剛・比叡・榛名・霧島 【東山奈央】- 提督との絆

haruna

【Requested by Daniel Blueflyer‏

Back to Kancolle with a song published by Kadokawa Games, “提督との絆“.
While with Touhou there’s no way I can say uncorrect things, this could happen when I’m talking about Kancolle because I don’t know eveyrthing about it.
So, feel free to insult correct me!
Anyway, this seems to be an arrange from the theme of marriage in Kancolle.
Yup, in the game you can actually marry your favourite ship.
How should we call this? Mechaphilia? I don’t know. What I know is that this song is so sweet it melted my insides and gave me diabetes three times.
And that’s not a bad thing, I like these kind of lyrics and this one is very good. What I like about Kancolle arranges is that they’re always very emotional (in terms of lyrics) compared to your average Touhou arrange.
Must probably be because Kancolle is overall sadder when compared to Touhou, that explains why its arranges are almost tearjerking.
And, I repeat, it’s not like that’s a bad thing. I liked this song a lot.
But that’s not all. The vocals are by Nao Touyama, which is the voice actress for every Kongou class ship in the game. So, as stated in the title, the characters performing this song are Kongou (金剛), Haruna (榛名), Hiei (比叡) and Kirishima (霧島).
There’s nothing much I can add to this, I’ll just leave the notes and the lyrics. Enjoy!
(PS: I choose a picture of Haruna merely because it was the best I could find)
(…And yup, that’s a traditional japanese wedding dress)

Nao Touyama – 提督との絆

I believe in it,
Right? Keep holding my hand…

Notes:

– That’s one of the few song I translated without leaving the sentence order the same way as the japanese lyrics are for most of the stanzas. This was in order to have the lyrics be more “normal sounding”.
– In the lyrics, everytime the word 提督 (teitoku), meaning “admiral”, appears, it’s ALWAYS read as “anata”, which could both mean “you” and “my dear”. Even the title of this song has a “Teitoku” that’s actually read as “Anata”. I translated it as “You, Admiral”, so it has every meaning it should have.
– 航路 is read as “chizu” in this song, meaning “map”, while it’s normally read as “kouro”, meaning “route” (as the route a warship is ordered to follow).
– 希望 is read as “ashita”, meaning “tomorrow”, while it’s normally read as “kibou”, meaning “hope”. I combined the two meanings.
– 時代 is read as “toki”, meaning “time”, while it’s normally read as “jidai”, meaning “era”. Omg I just made three identical notes in a row.
– Just like note #2, on another stanza the word 未来 which is read as “mirai” meaning “future”, is read as “ashita”, meaning “tomorrow”. Japanese is fun.
– When the song says “aoi toki” and “akai toki” (blue times – red times) I think it’s probably refering to “good memories” and “violent memories”. In other words, the days of calmness (blue) and the days of battles and blood (red). We’re talking about warship, after all.
– When it says “dress”, it’s probably also refering to the marriage stuff. That’s an arrange from that theme, after all.
– Last two stanzas come one after one other in meanings, so the translation for “forever” is actually in the second-to-last stanza instead of the last. As I stated on a previous note, I had to change the order of some words, but I assure you I didn’t left behind anything.

[REQUEST] A-HEAD – コモリウタ

mayoigo

【Requested by yAMAiNOS‏

(A-HEAD) arato – コモリウタ

盲いた兎、呼び声。
涸れた喉を震わせて

meshiita usagi, yobigoe
kasureta nodo o furuwasete

The calling voice of the blinded rabbit.
It makes my dried up throat tremble

「御出でよ、僕らのアリス
真っ赤なリボンを目印に」

“oide yo, bokura no arisu
makka na ribon o mejirushi ni”

“Come forth, our Alice,
We’ll mark you with a red ribbon”

幼い迷子 森の奥
闇に浮かぶ 無数の瞳
月に照らされ踊る影に

osanai mayoigo mori no oku
yami ni ukabu musuu no me
tsuki ni terasare odoru kage ni

The shadow of a young stray child in the depths of the forest
Of the countless eyes floating in the darkness
Dances as it’s illuminated by the Moon.

絡み合わせた 薄氷

karamiawaseta aisuburuu

Entangled in a thin-ice blue…

幾重の銀糸巡らせ 手繰り、辿るは魔性の茶会
回れ廻れ何度でも 例え終焉が来なくとも

ikue no gin’ito megurase taguri, tadoru wa mashou no utage
maware maware nandodemo tatoe owari ga konaku to mo

Pulling and rolling up a repeating silver string which pursues a devilish banquet;
No matter what, it spins and spins again, even if it’ll come to an end…

隻眼の兎、歌声。
崩れた音を紡がせて

akame no usagi, utagoe
kuzureta oto o tsumugasete

The calling voice of the red-eyed rabbit.
It makes me spin to that crumbling sound…

「踊ろう、僕らのアリス
銀時計が止まるまで」

“odorou, bokura no arisu
gindokei ga tomaru made”

“Let’s dance, our Alice,
Until the silver clock stops.”

無垢なる少女は夢の中
手には壊れたオルゴール
合わせ鏡に映る面影に

muku naru shoujo wa yume no naka
te ni wa kowareta orugooru
awase kagami ni utsuru kage ni

The girl which became pure is inside a dream
Where what lies in her hand is a broken music box
Reflecting its shadow into opposite mirrors…

囚われ融ける 薄氷

toraware tokeru aisuburuu

Caught inside a melting thin-ice blue…

伸ばした手と、手、触れ合い 足取り軽く踏み出すステップ
踊れ踊れ何処までも 例え夜明けが来なくとも

nobashita te to, te, fureai ashidori karuku fumidasu suteppu
odore odore doko made mo tatoe yoake ga konaku tomo

The hand I stretched and the hands we’re touching, A step forward towards that light trace;
Dance, dance wherever you want, even if the dawn won’t come ever again.

暗転、反転、終わらぬ世界
心満たした甘い声

anten, hanten, owaranu yume
kokoro mitashita amai koe

An endless dream turning into darkness;
A sweet voice that fills up my heart…

『おかえり、私のアリス』

“okaeri, watashi no arisu”

“Welcome home, my Alice..”

まどろみ、霞む夜の向こう
深く、底へと沈んでいく

madoromi, kasumu yoru no mukou
fukaku, soko e to shizunde iku

On the other side of the hazy night, I take a nap
Sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss

幾重の銀糸操り 望んだ幻想はもう、すぐ傍に
薄く微笑んだ“茶会の主” 全ては彼女の思うまま

ikue no gin’ito ayatsuri nozonda sekai wa mou, sugu soba ni
usuku hohoenda “arisu” subete wa kanojo no omou mama

The world I wish to manipulate, a repeating silver string, is now by my side,
As her faint smile saying “Alice” is part of her thoughts

幾重の時を重ねて 愛しい少女はこの腕の中に
眠れ眠れ何時までも 目覚めの朝は二度と来ない

ikue no toki o kasanete itoshii nando wa kono ude no naka ni
nemure nemure itsu made mo mezame no asa wa nidoto konai

Piling up the repeating time, my dear young lady is now between my arms;
Sleep, sleep well as much as you want, for a morning when you will wake up won’t come again…

Notes:

– As usual, thanksViolet for finding the lyrics for me!
– 涸れた (kasureta) is usually read as “kareta” instead. The meaning changes. “kareta” means “dry up” (which fits with the word “throat”), “kasureta” could also mean “crack” refering to a voice cracking. Being the meanings similar, I left its original meaning. Also, i kept the dot (。) separating the first two lines in the first stanza just as it does in the japanese lyrics.
– 薄氷 (aisuburuu) is a kira-kira reading of the word “hakuhyou”, meaning thin ice. It is read as “aisuburuu” which is a katakana version of the english word “Ice Blue”. I blended their meanings together into a single one.
– 茶会 (utage) meaning “banquet” – “feast” is wrote with different kanjis, the first for “tea” and the second for “meeting”. 茶会 is infact read as “chakai” meaning “tea party”, obviously referring to Alice in Wonderland. I left “banquet” because it was cooler. Yup. Just because of this.
– 終焉 (owari) should be read as “shuuen”. The meaning is the same, though.
– 面影 (kage) another strange reading, it should be read as “omokage”, which means “looks” rather than “kage” meaning “shadow”. Once again, I choose “kage” because it was cooler. And because it’s what the singer actually says.
– 暗転、反転 (anten hanten) that’s obviously a pun between those two similar words, but they have a similar meaning. “anten” means, putting its meaning in a sentence “when something turns dark / takes an unexpected (negative) outcome (usually for plays, shows, etc.)”, while “hanten” simply means “to inverte”, “to reverse”. I combined their meanings.
– 底 (soko) i translated it as “abyss” (which is not wrong), but “soko” means also “there”. Haven’t found nothing it could refer to, I left it as “abyss”, which was more stylish~ (?).
– 少女 (shoujo) at the end, could be pretty ambiguous. I left it as “young lady”, but it could be generally used to express the word “girl” or even the word “daughter”, leading to different song analysis. Let’s left this note here and keep the translation the way it is.

Notes:

– First of all: everything in english is fucked up in this song. Just sayin’. I tried my best without touching the engRish (it’s part of its lyrics, I don’t translate engRish to english).
– スラットして (suratto shite) could have tons of meaning, and no one seems to make sense to me. Funny thing is that “bitch” comes after it, and “suratto” (wrote in katakana in here) could also mean “slut”. “slender” is the normal meaning this word should have, but it’s most likely a pun between “slender” and “slut”. I… just don’t know what japanese people get high with, but I sure want to try that shit.
– こう耐えて 答えて (kou taete kotaete) is an obvious pun between “kou” (this way) and “taeru” (to deal with) and “kotaeru” (to answer). This song is full of puns, I won’t list them all or it will take me one year.
– 弄んで (moteasonde) can mean “to play (with a toy)” as well as “to play (with someone’s emotions)”.
– 幽かさ (kasukasa) that’s what originally made me think of this as being a Flandre-related arrange. Kasukasa comes from “kasukai”, adjective that could both mean “calm” or “isolated”, “secluded”. I obviously choose the first in order to drive the meaning away from possible misunderstandings.
– Thanks again to Violet for finding the lyrics for this song!
