Tsukitei Rap Battle vs Greengrocer (Gaki no Tsukai short clip)

Translator’s notes

Our hero… has been defeated. Once again.
A short clip from a recent footage of Gaki no Tsukai, in which our former Yamazaki (now Tsukitei Housei) challenges pedestrians in fierce rap battles.
We already know his abilities in making music, but is rap one of his strong point too?
I loved how his opponent is just an ordinary greengrocer, and still has a sharper tongue and more accurate sense of rhythm than Housei has.
Man, that was good.
Just for info, I won’t release long clips on my channel (15 minutes is my limit).
So I won’t translate the rest of it unless Team Gaki decides to work on it on their website!
BUT..! I’ll release clip more often than before, so while I’m working on bigger clips, there will be times when short clips like that will be uploaded.
..BUT! I need your help. Help my channel grow! More support from you guys, more clips, more frequently!
As someone asked me, I don’t have a facebook page in which I write video updates… but I have a twitter profile, you can follow me there if you want.
And obviously, as always, I do not own any copyright. I just subbed the clip.

(Gaki no Tsukai) – Earthquake during Downtown talk

Translator’s Notes

A new (short) video for everyone!
This time, a special clip from a recent footage.
The time where an earthquake strike during downtown talk.
Though I’d loved to hear something new about superman’s S symbol, I also loved how they reacted to it.
They kept their cool, keeping on entertaining the audience and bringing laughter to everyone.
I guess that’s what makes someone a comedian!
There were some parts that I didn’t get very well, but this time my doubts are just a few. For example, the first thing they both said.
I know they’re talking about reading letters, but I couldn’t get exactly what they were saying. Just forgive this little part, everything else should be perfectly fine (I guess).
But once again, pointing me out some big losses on my translation helps me out a lot for improving my japanese understanding skills, so don’t hesitate and let me know if I misheard something!
Last thing, I’m sorry this clip was short, but I wanted to sub it because it’s a nice thing to see, in my opinion.
I really love downtown, geez.
I also plan on releasing subbed clips more frequently from last clip on, at least 1 in a month (or even more than one).
But right now, 1 in a month is fine and enough, considering I’m soon going to start my exams sessions and I won’t have much time to spend on clips like those.
Anyway, subscribe and stay tuned, I’ll write everything on my twitter for news and I’ll upload everything there on this channel! thanks!

ABSOLUTE CASTAWAY – Initium Volume.

foregnuo

So, I’ve translated 待宵姫, why not translating also this masterpiece too?
I’ll never understand why ABSOLUTE CASTAWAY are so underrated.
They’re barely known as a doujin circle, and I think the main reason behind this is because their works are totally overshadowed by hundreds of Touhou doujin circles.
That could totally be understandable, giving that ABSOLUTE CASTAWAYS’s songs are (almost) always original pieces.
They have only arranged some tracks from Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (and I must admit their cover of the opening was hella good) and Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, but every other work is 100% original.
I listened to every track they composed, and I must say that finding good tracks among them is easy, but finding a track which is totally stunning compared to the others is quite the task.
Now, about this piece… I’m speechless. I don’t even need words to describe it, It means so much to me and moves me everytime.
Just… just read to the lyrics. Seriously, there’s nothing more to add!

心ごと連れ去ってくれたなら

shuusoku suru oto

The fading away sound
Dissipates further in the center of the sky
It gently took away everything filling my heart…

消えない痛みも
見えない現在位置(たちいち)も
掴めない明日の象形(かたち)さえ
いつかは全てが 懐かしく変わり行くのだろう

Even the pain that can’t be erased,
Even the reality’s location that can’t be seen
And even the shape of the tomorrow you can’t grasp…
I wonder if one day everything will start to change with nostalgia
And the sound will slowly fade away too

声が枯れ果てようと構わない
ワタシは歌うよ 歌い続ける

I don’t care if my voice will come to wither
I’ll sing, I’ll keep on singing
Even if I’ll lose everything and anything
Nothing could ever be erased from my heart
Because a little bit of future is still left in it

The sounds I’m humming,
A song just for myself, even if it’s out of tune
“It’s okay”, that’s what you said, right?

The right way to live
And even the correct path to follow
I should know that they could be predicted
But I didn’t know that, because I was paralyzed, trembling,
I was afraid to know

I’ll sing, I’ll keep on singing
The story that

Farewell, thank you, I’m fine by now
Only the last score, your farewell gift

I’ll sing, I’ll keep on singing
Even if I’ll lose everything and anything
Nothing could ever be erased from my heart
Because a little bit of future is still left in it

Notes:

– First of all, according to the booklet, some words are totally messed up. For instance, -Last Volume- on the lyrics booklet is read as “monogatari”, and 象形 (shoukei) is read as “katachi”. That’s up to the lyricists, I’m guessing.
– “dissipate” at the beginning is not quite the correct translation. “Suikomarete yuku” translated as “to be sucked in” but I didn’t find this really… appealing.
– The fourth stanza was hard to translate. Not because of its contents (those are easy), but because of its style. Sentence order in japanese is different from english, and I wanted to preserve the surprise effect this stanza had by keeping the sentence order while trying not to make a pointless translated stanza. If it doesn’t sound nice to you… well… couldn’t think anything better!
– Stanza number 8 “Turn into music” is uncorrect, the verb translates as “to play something with an instrument”, but saying something like that was far too long, and I found the verb “to play” to be unfitting. Thus, “turn into music”, which is quite near to its original meaning.

ABSOLUTE CASTAWAY – 待宵姫

matsuyoi

Due various requests, I decided to translate this beautiful piece of music by ABSOLUTE CASTAWAY: 待宵姫
I seriously don’t know why I never decided to translate this, being one of my favourite songs.
Anyway, just by listening to it I figured out what it was about, but now that I’ve translated it, everything is perfectly clear.
I love the japanese-feeling all over the song, and I expecially love the part between 3:33 – 4:53 it gives me chills everytime.
There’s no need to say something else, just enjoy the translation and check the notes! You can listen to the song to the link below, it’s on my channel.
Thanks!

ABSOLUTE CASTAWAY – 待宵姫

いつまでも待ちましょう
また夏を送りましょう
いつの日か名を呼ばれるその日まで

Itsumademo machimashou
mata natsu o okurimashou
itsu no hi ka na o yobareru sono hi made

I’ll wait forever
I’ll bid farewell to the summer, again
Until the day my name will be called again…

遠い遠い追憶の彼方 揺れる想い
今は顔もおぼろげな貴方は誰ですか

tooi toii tsuioku no kanata yureru omoi
ima wa kao mo oborokena anata wa dare desu ka

Beyond that distant, distant recollection, a thought is trembling
“Who are you, who now has this pale face?”

永い永い星霜の果てに何があるの
水は流れ 玉響の涙も留まらない

nagai nagai seizou no hate ni nani ga aru no
mizu wa nagare tamayura no namida mo tomaranai

What is lying at the end of those long, long years?
The water is flowing, and the dew teardrops won’t stop too

どうして 寂しいのでしょう
その理由も解らないけれど

doushite samishii no deshou
sono riyuu mo wakaranai keredo

I wonder why I’m so lonely
I can’t understand why, but…

いつまでも待ちましょう (あなたを)
また夏を送りましょう (まってる)
誰かも判らぬ 愛しい貴方のこと (きおくはかすんで)
生きる意味を与えて 温もりを教えてくれた (それでも、いまはただ)
それだけは 忘れずに憶えてます

itsumademo machimashou (anata o)
mata natsu o okurimashou (matteru)
dareka mo wakaranu itoshii anata no koto (kioku wa kasunde)
ikiru imi wo ataete nukumori o oshietekureta (soredemo, ima wa tada)
soredake wa wasurezu ni oboetemasu

I’ll wait forever (I’ll wait)
I’ll bid farewell to the summer, again (For you)
I don’t even know about someone, about you, my dear (The memory is hazy)
You gave me the meaning of life, and taught me what warmth is (But still, now I’m just…)
I can’t just forget all of this, I’ll remember it

浅沙の花を 文代わりに流そう
たとえ誰にも届かないと知っても
さやさやと…瀬音は変わらず…
全てを流していく…

asaza no hana wo fumi kawari ni nagasou
tatoe darenimo totokanai to shittemo
sayasayato… seoto wa kawarazu…
subete wo nagashite iku…

I’ll exchange the flow of flowers of floating hearts with verses
Even though I know that they won’t reach anyone
Rustling all along… the sound of the stream won’t change…
Everything is flowing…

夏の夜を蛍が照らす
何故か不意に 心が痛んだ

natsu no yo o hotaru ga terasu
nazeka fuimi ni kokoro ga itanda

The fireflies illuminate this Summer night
And for some reason, unexpectedly, my heart ached

いつまでも待ちましょう (あなたを)
また夏を送りましょう (まってた)
悲しみの末に息絶えて (それすらわすれて)
今もまだ愛しさを抱えてる (うつろう)
幾つもの輪廻の中で (いまもまだ)
いつの日か 逢えると信じています

itsumademo machimashou (anata o)
mata natsu o okurimashou (matteta)
kanashimi no sue ni iki taete (soresura wasurete)
ima mo mada aishisa o kakaeteru
ikutsumo no rinne no naka de (ima mo mada)
itsu no hi ka aeru to shinjiteimasu

I’ll wait forever (I waited)
I’ll bid farewell to the summer, again (For you)
The breath stops once the suffering ends (Forget it anyway)
I’m still suffering for love
In an undefined number of circles of life (And yet still…)
But I’m still having faith that one day I’ll meet you.

Notes:

– The title is formed by three kanjis: 待 (matsu, to wait) 宵 (yoi, evening) 姫 (hime, princess). It’s translation could be “Princess who waits the evening” or “Evening-waiting princess” or something like that. Anyway, it appears that it’s also the name from a flower, the Oenothera stricta. In other words, it could both mean “The princess who waits for the evening” or “The princess of Oenothera stricta”.
– 玉響 (tamayura) is the only word which was a problem translating. It appears that its chinese reading can be connected to dew drops which appears on the morning grass. I liked that.
– 浅沙(あさざ) – That’s a name of a flower too. Its english name is “Floating Heart”. It seem to belong to the nymphoides family, and it usually grows near small lakes.
– 綸絵 (rinne) Buddhist concept of eternal circle of life, death and reincarnation.

(Gaki no Tsukai) Hamada Volleyball Coach

I decided to start posting once again on my wordpress, though I’ll have some changes.
First of all: It will be a translation-only wordpress, like my first one was (and now I can truly say that I became better at translating).
I’ll post the last episode which I uploaded on my channel from Gaki no Tsukai, and something new is coming next…

TRANSLATOR’S NOTES

Welcome to my lousiest video ever! (Or not so much, considering youtube kept the 480p!)
Yeah, can’t help it. Its quality is low but it was the best I found. Moreover, its audio is very bad too, so bad that I couldn’t even get every single line they’re saying. Sometimes It’s very noisy and they also talk with such a small voice that there are probably several mistakes.
But yeah, I’m not dead! And this time the clip I’m uploading is even longer than usual! Isn’t this great?
Sadly, exams and studying (and troubles that keeps happening) are getting on my way a lot recently, that’s why there weren’t upload from recently. But I kinda find my own way to spare some time for my channel project, so yeah, that’s it!
I’m not going to quit subbing, and once in a while new clips will be uploaded here, so be sure to be subscribed!
About this video… Awesome.
I love how Japanese people acts so normally when they’re actually in a fake situation.
I also laughed so much at how Hamada turns out to be half demon and half angel, that was brilliant.
On a side note, I didn’t get the “mama” thing. I’m sorry. I tried to find something on Google, but nothing answered my questions. I’m guessing they’re mocking how Hamada is acting like a mentor to them, in a parental way.
And Etou… Poor Etou.
Once again, I’m sorry the quality is too low, but I couldn’t find anything better. If you know where to find this clip in a higher quality, let me know! I still have every .ass file, so adding the subs would be the easiest thing.
Now, some news: I changed my twitter account name (now goes on @0daruma), for everyone who’s following me, and I also left behind my wordpress, for now.
I’ll probably open a new blog or whatever when I have some spare time and will to do it… oh, well.
Oh, and lastly: I managed to became part of Team Gaki! Have you watched 2014 Earth Defense Force Batsu Game? I worked with them on the translation! (Yeah, I’m that “Scion” on the credits… except for the fact that they misspelled “Shion”). Also, I’m signing with my true name starting from this video (Mauro), so I won’t be just a Shion among Shions.
Am I right?
No, probably I’m just an idiot.
I hope this idiot I am at least will be able to entertain you!
